Atalanta have rejected an approach from Atlético Madrid worth around €30 million in total for Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman.
The Serie A side is understood to have turned down the offer as discussions continue with Turkish giants Fenerbahçe over a separate deal that is more advanced in principle.
While Atalanta and Fenerbahçe have reportedly agreed on a transfer package valued at €40 million, the move has yet to receive final approval due to outstanding issues related to payment terms and bank guarantees.
Negotiations between the two clubs are said to be focused on the structure of the payments and the financial assurances required by Atalanta before they can give the green light.
The rejection of Atlético’s bid suggests that Atalanta are prioritising the more lucrative agreement on the table, provided the financial conditions are satisfactorily resolved.
Lookman’s future now hinges on the outcome of the ongoing talks, with Fenerbahçe working to finalise the details needed to complete the transfer.
