Maiduguri residents troop out in thousands to show support for Tinubu, Shettima ahead of 2023 polls

Thousands of supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Maiduguri turned out to cheer for presidential candidate Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and running mate Kashim Shettima during their campaign rally.

The rally which was held on Saturday, February 18, 2023, was soon turned into a street carnival as the major cities were filled with jubilant supporters.

A statement from the Tinubu media office revealed that there were no human and vehicular movements in the city as attendees had to abandon their vehicles and trek long distances to see Tinubu and Shettima.

Borno state Governor Prof Babagana Zulum thanked Tinubu for picking a son of the soil as his running mate.

The former Lagos state governor also promised to re-activate oil exploration in the Lake Chad Basin and recharge the drying lake to generate jobs and boost agricultural production in the area.

Tinubu said: “Security is top on our agenda and Nigeria will see peace and stability. The Borno people and their neighbours will witness prosperity and happiness.”
