Cristiano Ronaldo has delivered a blunt verdict on his former club, Manchester United, declaring that their Premier League title hopes are already over and warning that deep structural changes are needed to restore the club to its former glory.

In a wide-ranging interview with Piers Morgan, the Al-Nassr forward didn’t hold back in his assessment of United’s current predicament, stating, “Manchester United will not win the Premier League this season. They’re already too many points behind.”

The Portuguese legend, who enjoyed two successful spells at Old Trafford, expressed his disappointment at the club’s current state. “I’m sad to see Man United like this. It’s still one of the best clubs in the world, a club that is always in my heart for obvious reasons,” Ronaldo said.

However, his concerns extend far beyond this season’s results. Ronaldo pointed to fundamental issues within the club’s organisation, arguing: “Man United right now don’t have a structure. I hope it will change, as it’s still one of the best clubs in the world. Man United is still in my heart, I love them.”

The 40-year-old was particularly emphatic about the need for comprehensive reform at the club. “They need to change. It’s not only about the coach/players, in my view,” he told Morgan. “They need smart, good people to manage the club and create a future as they did at Man United many years ago.”

Despite his criticism of the club’s infrastructure, Ronaldo offered a measure of support for current manager Rúben Amorim, while setting realistic expectations. “Rúben Amorim is doing his best. What should he do? Miracles? Miracles are not possible, miracles are only in Fatima,” he said, referencing the famous Portuguese pilgrimage site.

Ronaldo also questioned whether some current players truly understand the weight of wearing the Manchester United shirt. “The players are good, but some of them don’t have in their mind what Manchester United is,” he concluded.

News.ng reports that the comments come as United continue to struggle in the Premier League, sitting well off the pace in the title race and facing mounting questions about the club’s direction both on and off the pitch, despite recent signs of improved form.
