MANTRA has officially rolled out a $25 million buyback program for its native OM token, marking the first significant stage in its broader capital commitment strategy. The initiative is being executed by MANTRA AG, a fully owned subsidiary by the MANTRA Chain Association.

This latest step comes on the heels of a $20 million injection from investment firm Inveniam, raising MANTRA’s total financial commitments to $45 million. According to the company, the buyback reflects both a promise to deliver on its April 2025 pledge and a signal of growing institutional confidence in OM’s future.

CEO and Founder John Patrick Mullin emphasised that the program is more than just a financial manoeuvre. “It is a pivotal moment for MANTRA—an affirmation of trust from our stakeholders and partners,” he said.

Buyback Rollout and Supply Dynamics

Beginning August 27, MANTRA will allocate the $25 million across several centralised exchanges, working with independent trading firms to execute regular buy orders near current market prices. All purchased tokens will be transferred to MANTRA’s mainnet and staked with its validator network.

Based on today’s market conditions, the initiative represents the repurchase of approximately 110 million OM tokens—close to 10% of the total circulating supply. Analysts note that removing such a significant portion of tokens from circulation could reduce market liquidity and potentially fuel upward price pressure over time.

Migration to Native Chain and Market Growth

In parallel, MANTRA is accelerating the transition of OM from Ethereum’s ERC-20 standard to its native blockchain. Roughly 30% of OM’s supply has already migrated. Mullin cautioned that January 15, 2026, will be the cutoff date for ERC-20 OM, calling it a “doomsday” for holders who fail to move their tokens.

The migration is expected to enhance liquidity and trading efficiency within MANTRA’s ecosystem, while also positioning OM to attract greater institutional adoption. This aligns with the broader real-world asset (RWA) boom, a sector that has ballooned to $26.5 billion this year—up 70% from 2024. Research from Binance projects that tokenised stocks alone could grow into a trillion-dollar market.

At the time of writing, CoinMarketCap data shows OM trading at $0.229985 with a daily volume of about $137.9 million, reflecting a slight dip of 0.24%. Despite short-term fluctuations, the buyback and migration strategy are seen as strong signals of confidence in OM’s long-term sustainability.
