The professional network LinkedIn, well-known for its job postings and unsolicited career advice, is entering the gaming industry.
The launch is coming a few weeks after they were initially noticed in the app, the platform is formally launching a series of Wordle-style puzzle games.
Three of those games are now being formally launched by the platform in an attempt to draw in more players and boost engagement.
Starting today, Queens, Crossclimb, and Pinpoint—which test your word association, logic, and trivia skills, respectively—will be accessible to players worldwide through LinkedIn News, the division that created the games, as well as a direct connection to them.
Each of these games can only be played once a day, exactly like Wordle. Currently, you may invite your first-degree connections to play games with you, and if you choose to, you can discuss your status with those connections, including whether or not you’ve played a game and how well you performed.
Daniel Roth, editor in chief of LinkedIn while confirming the recent development claimed that the game is meant “to build meaningful relationships,” among your network
“It is hard for people to stay in touch with each other, and games provide a way to build these network ties,” he added.
LinkedIn refers to them as “thinking-oriented games,” although users of The New York Times Games app are probably already familiar with the structure.
Players may share their score with friends in adorable emoji-filled comments that are evocative of the “Wordle grid” and each game can only be played once per day.
The platform for business professionals had through Dan Shapero, LinkedIn’s chief operating office, announced accruing $1.7 billion in revenue from premium subscriptions.
