The proposed move of Spanish midfielder Mikel Merino to English Premier League side Arsenal will see the light of day as expected as club-to-club talks are said to be proceeding well.
This was made known by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano who informed that the player has asked Real Sociedad to allow him to join the club of his dreams.
Romano also noted that it is just a matter of details away for Merino’s move to Arsenal to become formal.

‘‘Matter of details and then Merino will become new #AFC player.’’ Romano wrote on his X page.
The President of Real Sociedad Jokin Aperribay has also admitted that a deal to take midfielder Merino to EPL club Arsenal could be in the making.
The Football Executive who disclosed this in a post shared on the X handle of journalist Chris Wheatley, said that Arsenal, which is one of the teams they didn’t want to bid for the mercurial midfielder, has started negotiations for the player’s transfer.
“Unfortunately, one of the teams we didn’t want to show up showed up,” Sociedad’s president was quoted as saying (via Daily Mail) alluding to the Gunners.
“When we consider that the offer is good, we will say yes,” Aperribay said.
He added: “We know what Merino’s wishes are, so we decided not to call him up [to the squad].“
