Aisha Yesufu, a Nigerian activist and co-founder of the #BringBackOurGirls movement, has criticised those opposed to Bosun Tijani’s ministerial nomination, describing them as the enemies of Nigeria.
Tijani, co-founder and CEO of Co-Creation Hub, the leading Pan-African innovation and technology centre, was nominated as a potential minister by President Bola Tinubu.
His nomination irked young members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), who felt Tijani’s past criticisms of the APC-led government should not be rewarded.
Yesufu said such arguments can only come from those who do not wish the country well.
“The ministerial list is one thing that I have not focused on, and it is simply because the person compiling it has no business in that office.
“Having said that those of you attacking Bosun Tijjani are really the enemies of Nigeria.
“If you truly say you want Nigeria to work, then you will realise that Bosun Tijani is the one per cent of the one per cent on the sham ministerial list that Tinubu desperately needs to look as if he has anything to offer.
“When justice prevails, and Tinubu is sent out of office, God willing, Bosun Tijjani is one person I would love to see be part of a legitimate government’s ministerial list.”
Yesufu also said Tijani does not have any business apologising to APC members for his past opinions.
“Bosun Tijjani should apologise? Apologise to who? He has more international clout than Tinubu, who is desperately seeking for legitimacy.
“I respect the fact that he is putting the greater good first, even at the risk of being tainted with Tinubu.”
