Media mogul and publisher of Ovation International Magazine, Dele Momodu, has stirred conversation surrounding the lingering crisis facing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

News.ng reports that Momodu, in a lengthy post on his X account on Wednesday, said the crisis within the main opposition party, the PDP, was orchestrated by President Bola Tinubu and Nyesom Wike, the immediate past Governor of Rivers State and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), describing the crisis within the PDP as the “unholy alliance” between the two personalities.

Blaming Wike’s continued attitude against the PDP, Momodu criticised the party for its inability to wield the big stick against the former governor.

“I do not understand the logic behind this conversation: The only reason Wike could not be suspended or expelled from PDP is his stranglehold on the Judiciary and President Tinubu.

“Wike will be nobody today if not for the unholy alliance between him and Tinubu,” Momodu stated.

On the fallout of Peter Obi from the PDP before the party’s presidential primary, Momodu denounced assertions by some individuals who are blaming Atiku Abubakar for the current crisis facing the PDP, saying that the former Vice President should not be blamed for the party’s downfall.

“OBI left PDP before the Presidential Primary. How can any serious commentator blame ATIKU for the problems of PDP,” he said.

“PDP chose to throw its Primary wide open, a decision that was controlled by WIKE’S group, and WIKE lost, how was that ATIKU’s fault again?”

According to the media entrepreneur, Wike supported Tinubu in the 2023 general elections because he lost the party’s presidential ticket to Atiku.

Also, he rubbished the idea that the trio of Atiku, Wike, or Obi would have defeated Tinubu in 2023 if they had been under the same party.

“Wike lobbied to be ATIKU’s running mate and lost out, and later chose to support TINUBU; how’s that ATIKU’s fault,” he added.

“Was there a guarantee that either Atiku, Obi or Wike would have defeated Tinubu on the PDP platform?” Momodu asked.

While some commentators are criticising Atiku for indicating interest in contesting for the presidency, Momodu asserted that it is the right of any Nigerian to contest for any elective post as enshrined in the country’s constitution.

He acknowledged that the atmosphere is becoming tense for the opposition parties in the country and that President Tinubu’s interest is to see the opposition weakened.

“The Constitution of Nigeria supremely allows everyone to pursue his/her own dreams, legitimately, so what’s this obsession with trying to suppress ATIKU, who has never stopped others from pursuing theirs.

“Was it ATIKU that scattered the Labour and NNPP Parties?

“Why are people pretending not to know that Nigeria is under a tyrannical government with access to an unprecedented war chest and appurtenances of power?”

“It should be obvious by now that Tinubu does not want any opposition, and he will do anything and everything to exterminate and obliterate opposition, if Nigerians do not unite beyond parties to fight back,” Momodu said.
