Ilenikhena was born in Lagos, Nigeria, but moved to France at the age of three and grew up in Antony, Hauts-de-Seine.
After progressing through the amateur Antony Football Evolution’s youth divisions, he joined Amiens, a professional team that had recently been demoted to Ligue 2, for the 2021-22 season.
On June 29, 2023, Ilenikhena signed a four-year contract with Belgian Pro League Champions Royal Antwerp for a reported sum of €6 million. On October 11, 2023, English daily The Guardian named him one of the world’s top players born in 2006.
