Nigerian international and Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi is close to signing a personal terms contract with Beşiktaş, one of the biggest teams in the Turkish Super Lig.
Negotiations between the Istanbul-based club, his current team, Leicester City, and Ndidi’s representatives have proceeded, according to people familiar with the talks.
The final terms of the deal are reportedly being finalized by both parties, and Beşiktaş may formally announce the 28-year-old midfield player in the days ahead.
At the conclusion of the 2024–2025 season, Ndidi’s contract with Leicester City expired, making him a free agent at this time. The Nigerian midfielder chose to seek a new challenge overseas, attracting interest from clubs in Turkey, Germany, France, and Saudi Arabia, despite the Foxes’ desire to keep him after their return to the Premier League.
However, by acting quickly to close a transaction, it seems Beşiktaş has outpaced its competitors. According to reports, the Turkish team views Ndidi as a crucial addition to their hopes of winning the league and having a significant impact on European tournaments next season.
After a disappointing 2024–25 season, Beşiktaş is rebuilding its midfield, and club management has recognised Ndidi’s defensive prowess, experience, and leadership as key strengths.
During his seven-year tenure with Leicester, the Super Eagles player rose to prominence in the Premier League thanks to his ball-winning skills, positional discipline, and strong work rate. He helped the English team win the FA Cup in 2021 and made more than 240 appearances for them.
