The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Executive Committee has accepted the Technical and Development Sub-Committee’s suggestion to name Manu Garba as the head coach of the Golden Eaglets, the U17 Boys National Team.
Garba is returning to the position after he notably guided the Golden Eaglets to Nigeria’s fourth FIFA U17 World Cup victory in the United Arab Emirates in 2013.
In addition, the seasoned Nigerian coach has led the squad to the 2019 FIFA U17 World Cup finals in Brazil during his two earlier stints with the Golden Eaglets.
Garba is expected to formally return to work on Sunday, July 27, 2025, as the Golden Eaglets have a significant event coming up: Nigeria will host the WAFU B U17 Boys Tournament in September.
In a related development, the NFF also approved Moses Aduku’s hiring as head coach of the Falconets, the U20 Girls National Team, which has a 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifying fixture against Rwanda in September.
Coach Adaku, who led local female club side Edo Queens to win the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) title two years ago, takes over from coach Chris Danjuma.
