The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is reportedly set to employ experienced Swedish tactician Janne Anderson as the new coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
Per a report published by SCORENigeria, Anderson’s appointment will be announced by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) this week, two months after Finidi George quit the post.
Anderson who has no experience of coaching in Africa, is now expected to be at the helm when the Super Eagles take on Benin Republic and Rwanda in next month’s Nations Cup qualifiers.
With seven years as Sweden’s manager, the 61-year-old Andersson has a wealth of international experience and helped the squad qualify for both the 2020 European Championship and the 2018 World Cup.

Nevertheless, his term came to an end when Sweden was not able to qualify for either the 2022 World Cup or the 2024 Euros. Notably, this would be his first position in Africa as a coach.
Finidi George stepped down as the coach of the Super Eagles following poor results in the 2026 World Cup qualifying games against South Africa and the Benin Republic.
The 53-year-old coach decided to step down as coach of the national team after the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) announced plans to hire a foreign technical adviser.
The resignation of Finidi who made his debut for Nigeria in 1991, in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Burkina Faso was confirmed by former Eagles media officer, Toyin Ibitoye, on his X account.
