NGX Ends Trading Week on a Mixed Note as Market Value Hits N30.6bn

Friday’s trading on the Nigerian Exchange Group ended on a mixed note, as 585,946,559 shares exchanged hands in 62,646 deals, bringing the market value to N30.618 billion, news.ng reports.

There was a slight improvement at the end of trading compared to Thursday’s downward trend in all the key performance indicators.

According to data, volume declined by 8%, and the number of deals recorded dropped by 5%, but turnover saved the day with an improvement of 5%, as market capitalisation stood at N126.4 trillion.

However, market observers saw more gainers than losers, as 35 stocks gained while 33 declined out of the 133 equities listed on the NGX on Friday.

Among the top six (6) movers during Friday’s session were Eterna (ETERNA), which gained 10% in share price to close at N42.35 per share. Premier Paints (PREMPAINTS) followed with a 9.77% gain to close at N14.60 per share, while Union Dicon (UNIONDICON) also followed suit as its share gained 9.70% to close the trading week at N16.40 per share.

Others include Fortis Global Insurance Plc (FTGINSURE), which gained 9.56% in its share price to close at N1.49 per share. John Holt (JOHNHOLT) recorded a gain of 9.25% to close at N9.45 per share, while Tantalizers (TANTALIZER) gained 8.41% to close at N4.64 per share.

The laggards after Friday’s trading include RT Briscoe (RTBRISCOE), whose share price depreciated by 10% to N12.06 per share. Mecure Industries (MECURE) lost 9.96% to close at N61.50 per share, while SCOA Nigeria (SCOA) declined by 9.96% to close at N34.35 per share.

Also, ABC Transport (ABCTRANS) saw its share price plummet by 9.69% to close at N6.24 per share. Berger Paints (BERGER) followed with a 9.93% depreciation to close at N66.65 per share, while Multiverse Mining & Exploration (MULTIVERSE) lost 9.78% to close at N18.45 per share.

On the volume of shares traded, First HoldCo recorded the highest volume with 43.9 million shares traded, followed by Access Holdings with 43.2 million shares traded. Zenith Bank recorded 40 million shares traded, while Guaranty Trust Holding had 38.9 million shares traded on Friday.
