NGX: Jaiz Bank, Okomu Oil Palm Shares Gained +9% as Market Capitalization Stood at N124.8trn

Investors on the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) witnessed a mixed outcome on Wednesday, as 1,375,310,472 shares were exchanged in 70,143 deals, with a market valuation of ₦45.73 billion, news.ng reports.

Amid the mixed outcome, data revealed that trading volume improved by 22% compared to Tuesday’s activity. The number of deals declined by 3%, while market capitalisation stood at ₦124.8 trillion.

Out of the 131 listed equities that participated in today’s trading, 54 stocks closed in the red territory, while 22 recorded gains.

On the gainers’ table were banking stocks, as Jaiz Bank Plc gained 9.95%, closing at ₦14.03 per share. Okomu Oil Palm Plc rose by 9.93%, Trans-Nationwide Express Plc gained 9.77%, and Fortis Global Insurance Plc advanced by 9.72%.

Other gainers included Champion Breweries Plc, whose share price rose by 5.39% to close at ₦17.60 per share. Africa Prudential Plc also closed in the green, gaining 5.00% to settle at ₦18.90 per share.

In the red territory, RT Briscoe Plc recorded a 10% decline, closing at ₦10.35 per share. Associated Bus Company Plc (ABC) also lost 10%, ending the day at ₦6.75 per share, while Skyway Aviation Handling Company Plc shed 9.98% to close at ₦139.35 per share.

Others included Vitafoam Nigeria Plc, which fell by 9.93% to close at ₦112.50 per share; Haldane McCall, whose share price declined by 9.93% to ₦3.99 per share; and Union Dicon Salt Plc, which lost 9.78% to close at ₦16.60 per share on Wednesday.

In terms of volume traded, Fortis Global Insurance Plc topped the chart with 194 million shares, followed by Zenith Bank Plc with 121 million shares.

Other top traders included Japaul Gold and Ventures Plc with 115 million shares, while Ellah Lakes Plc recorded 98.4 million shares.
