NGX Records 712.9m Shares Worth N22.23bn Traded as Market Cap Stood at N109.1trn

A total of 712,937,120 shares were traded on the floor of the Nigerian Exchange (NGX), valued at N22,226,730,830.50 in 46,078 deals, as Thursday’s session closed on a positive note, news.ng reports.

This was an improvement compared to Wednesday’s session, as trading volume rose by 3%, turnover increased by 8%, and the number of deals surged by 10%.

Thursday’s overall market capitalisation stood at N109.1 trillion, showing continued investor participation in the equities market.

Out of the 129 listed equities traded on Thursday, 55 stocks closed in positive territory, while 19 declined.

Top gainers included Seplat Petroleum Development Company, which closed at N7,370.00 per share, representing a 10% increase. Coronation Infrastructure Fund and Guinea Insurance followed with gains of 10% each, while RT Briscoe’s share price rose by 9.95%.

On the other hand, Deap Capital Management & Trust recorded a decline of 9.62% to close at N6.20 per share. Universal Insurance Company followed with a 9.43% loss, while Haldane McCall and logistics firm Red Star Express saw their share prices drop by 9.09% and 9.04%, respectively.

The most actively traded stock at the end of the day was Access Holdings, with 107 million shares changing hands. Chams and Champion Breweries followed with 44.5 million shares each, while Universal Insurance Company recorded 34.8 million shares traded.
