Market observers and investors witnessed a total of 830,512,826 shares traded in 139,266 deals valued at N53.137 billion on the Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX) on Monday, news.ng reports.
According to market data, trading volume declined by 7%, while turnover dropped by 50%, even as deals surged by 139%. The market capitalisation of the NGX stood at N127.8 trillion.
Out of the 132 listed companies on the NGX on Monday, 42 equities gained, while 24 recorded losses.
On the gainers’ chart, Presco recorded a 10% rise in its share price to close at N1,871.20 per share. John Holt gained 9.7% to close at N13.00 per share, while Premier Paints rose by 9.62% to close at N25.65 per share. Fortis Global Insurance Plc recorded a 9.45% gain to close at N1.39 per share.
On the other hand, Zichis Agro Allied Industries bore the most losses, declining by 45.68% to close at N9.43 per share. This was followed by Consolidated Hallmark Holdings, which lost 9.64% to close at N4.50 per share. DEAP Capital Management and Trust saw its share price depreciate by 8.37% to close at N5.91 per share, while Guaranty Trust closed the day in the red, declining by 8.18% to N105.00 per share.
Among equities with the highest traded volume, United Bank for Africa (UBA) recorded 114 million traded shares, followed by Wema Bank with 112 million shares. Access Holdings recorded 54.8 million shares, while Zenith Bank traded 38.2 million shares.
