The Nigerian stock market demonstrated renewed investor optimism as the NGX market value surpassed ₦74 trillion on Thursday, with participants securing approximately ₦445 billion in gains through strategic purchasing activities.

Nigeria’s equity market maintained its upward trajectory, recording positive performance for two consecutive sessions following Tuesday’s decline. Exchange data indicated that primary market indicators rose by 0.60%, continuing Wednesday’s favourable trading climate.

Market participation remained robust, fueled by increased purchasing activity in medium and large-capitalisation securities, including BETAGLASS, ETERNA, STANBIC, and 39 additional companies that posted gains across various market segments. Financial analysts noted that this widespread growth demonstrates continued investor optimism, supported by strengthening economic indicators.

The primary market indicator climbed 704.97 points to reach a record high of 117,861.13 points, marking a 0.60% increase. Market data revealed contrasting trading patterns, with transaction volumes rising by 39.67%, while total trade values decreased by 15.31%.

Atlass Portfolio Limited reported to market participants that roughly 893.97 million shares worth ₦22,029.34 million changed hands through 17,257 transactions.

CHAMPION dominated trading volume, representing 37.34% of all shares traded, with GTCO (7.04%), PZ (5.24%), ZENITHBANK (4.22%), and ACCESSCORP (4.04%) completing the top performers by volume.

GTCO led in transaction value, accounting for 22.74% of total monetary exchanges on the platform.

IKEJAHOTEL achieved the highest price increase at 10.00%, followed by BETAGLASS (+9.98%), LEGENDINT (+9.92%), UPL (+9.85%), ETERNA (+9.82%), LIVINGTRUST (+9.68%), and thirty-six other advancing stocks.

Twenty securities experienced price declines, with GUINEAINS posting the largest decrease at -9.21%. Other declining stocks included HMCALL (-5.88%), FIDSON (-4.65%), MULTIVERSE (-2.03%), NGXGROUP (-1.19%), and HONYFLOUR (-0.71%).

Market sentiment remained favourable, with 42 stocks advancing compared to 20 declining. All five primary market categories recorded gains.

Banking stocks led with 2.99% growth, insurance companies increased by 1.53%, consumer products rose by 1.02%, the energy sector gained 0.24%, and industrial stocks advanced by 0.16%. Total market capitalisation increased by ₦444.74 billion to reach ₦74.36 trillion.
