In a bid to bolster its ranks with dedicated and qualified personnel, the Nigeria Police Force has commenced the recruitment of prospective Police Constables.
According to a statement by police spokesperson ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the recruitment drive encompasses both General Duty and Specialist Cadres.
He noted that the new development represents a pivotal step in enhancing the capabilities and efficiency of the Force.
He said the online application portal is set to open on October 15, 2023, marking the initiation of a crucial phase.
ACP Adejobi said the portal will remain accessible for six weeks, allowing aspiring candidates to complete online application forms and submit them within the specified period via the website.
To be considered eligible for this recruitment, applicants are required to meet a series of criteria.
These include Nigerian citizenship by birth, possession of the National Identification Number (NIN), and a minimum of 5 credits in not more than 2 sittings in WAEC/NECO or an equivalent qualification, with credit passes in both English and Mathematics.
Age requirements for applicants are 18-25 years for those aspiring to serve in the General Duty cadre and 18-28 years for those applying for Specialist roles.
Furthermore, candidates must be medically, physically, and psychologically fit and meet specific height and chest measurement standards.
In addition to the fundamental qualifications, applicants must have a clean financial record, free from financial embarrassment.
He added that a background check will also be conducted to ensure that candidates have no prior convictions for criminal offences.
On his part, the Inspector-General of Police warned all prospective candidates, urging them to exercise vigilance and caution throughout the application process.
He emphasized the need for candidates to remain alert to potential fraudsters and individuals who might attempt to exploit the recruitment process for personal gain.
The IGP has reassured applicants that the Police Recruitment Board comprises dedicated and disciplined professionals who will ensure a transparent and merit-based recruitment process, free from corruption or any irregularities.
