Nigeria striker Terem Moffi has moved to terminate his contract with OGC Nice following a violent confrontation involving supporters at the club’s training ground late last year.
Moffi and teammate Jérémie Boga were reportedly attacked by angry fans in December, after Nice’s 3–1 defeat to Lorient in November 2025. According to reports, the players were hit, kicked, and spat at during the incident, which occurred amid a run of poor results for the club.
As reported by Get French Football News, both players were singled out for separate controversies. Moffi, a former Lorient player, drew backlash after he was seen laughing with Lorient president Loïc Féry on Ligue 1 Plus following the defeat, which marked Nice’s sixth consecutive loss in all competitions. Boga, meanwhile, had earlier invited Olympique de Marseille supporters to the Allianz Riviera ahead of a heavy 5–1 derby defeat, a move for which he later issued an apology.
Since the attack, neither Moffi nor Boga has featured for Nice, with L’Équipe reporting that the duo have now formally initiated steps to leave the club. Both players have been unable to return to first-team training, with their initial one-week sick leave repeatedly extended.
The report further states that the players have launched legal proceedings against those accused of attacking on November 30. Their legal representatives are now seeking contract termination because adequate measures were not taken by the club to guarantee their safety.
A meeting with the Ligue de Football Professionnel’s judicial commission is scheduled for Thursday to review the case. Both Moffi and Boga remain under contract at Nice until the summer of 2027.
The 26-year-old Moffi, who only recently returned from an injury that had sidelined him since October, has made 10 appearances this season, scoring two goals in Ligue 1.
