President Bola Tinubu has approved the commencement of the 2024 National Honours Award, which will recognize Nigerians and friends of Nigeria who have made significant contributions to the nation’s development or have distinguished themselves in their fields.
This announcement was made by the Minister of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, Zephaniah Jisalo, during a top management meeting held in Abuja.
The Minister emphasized that the nomination process is free, warning the public against paying any individual or group for assistance, as such payments would be at their own risk.
The public is encouraged to look out for the Call for Nominations and submit names of individuals who have significantly uplifted the nation and its people.
The National Honours Award is governed by the National Honours Award Act CAP N43, which took effect retrospectively from October 1, 1963.
Meanwhile, in a bid to strengthen efforts in regaining Nigeria’s national values, the Director General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, recently led a courtesy visit to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) headquarters in Abuja.
The visit aimed to forge a partnership focused on behavioural reorientation for Nigerian citizens, particularly in youth engagement, leadership values, and citizen codes of conduct.
During the visit, Mallam Issa-Onilu emphasized the importance of collaboration among key stakeholders to drive a nationwide campaign for value reorientation.
He highlighted that the effort to reshape societal values requires contributions from all sectors, ensuring that the framework for behavioural changes spans across every segment of society.
