The Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development has officially commenced the issuance of the first batch of Offer of Provisional Allocation to outright subscribers of houses under the National Housing Programme (NHP).
The initiative is a significant milestone in the government’s efforts to provide affordable housing to Nigerians.
Dr. Marcus Ogunbiyi, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, announced the development today in Abuja.
The issuance of the first batch offer, which began in April 2024, follows a review of the conditions and procedures for the sale of houses under the NHP. This review was communicated through a circular dated December 29, 2023 (Ref no. DPBH/645/1/43).
Dr. Ogunbiyi noted that while some subscribers have completed their payments, others have initiated deposit payments but have not yet fulfilled the total amount required.
To facilitate the process, he reminded subscribers of the 90-day validity period for completing payments.
“In light of the current status, we are extending a grace period of eight weeks for subscribers who have not yet completed their payments,” Dr. Ogunbiyi stated.
“This extension is provided to ensure that all payments are finalized within this period. Failure to complete payments within the eight-week grace period will result in the revocation of the Offer,” he added.
Ogunbiyi reiterated the ministry’s commitment to advancing the National Housing Programme and ensuring that all subscribers are afforded a fair opportunity to secure their housing units.
“Subscribers are advised to take prompt action to complete their payments to avoid any disruption in their allocation.
“For further inquiries, subscribers are encouraged to contact the Ministry’s customer service or visit the nearest Housing Office,” he concluded.
In a related development, the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, has stated that the Renewed Hope Housing Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will not tolerate abandoned housing projects.
Emphasizing the Ministry’s commitment to providing value for money, Dangiwa warned that contractors who collect government funds for housing projects must complete the work.
The warning was issued on Saturday, June 29th, 2024, during the foundation laying ceremony of the 250-unit Renewed Hope Housing Estate in Warri, Delta State.
