The Nigerian stock market on Wednesday closed bearish, halting five consecutive sessions of gains as 28 stocks declined.
The All-Share Index (ASI) dropped by 0.14% to close at 114,659.11 points, down from the previous close of 114,820.86 points.
The Market Capitalisation declined by 0.14% to close at N72.303 trillion, compared to the previous close of N72.404 trillion, thereby shedding N101 billion.
An aggregate of 471 million units of shares were traded in 20,538 deals, valued at N14.19 billion.
The market breadth closed positive, with 31 equities emerging as gainers, compared to 28 equities that declined in share price.
ABC Transport and BETAGLASS led the gainers’ chart, recording 10.00% growth each to close at N2.64 and N231.10, respectively, up from N2.40 and N210.10.
Berger Paints, FIDSON, and Legend Internet also posted gains of 9.98%, 9.91%, and 9.88%, respectively.
ABBEY BUILDING led the laggards, shedding 7.50% to close at N5.55, down from N6.00.
NCR and VITAL FOAM also declined, losing 7.09% and 6.64%, respectively.
FCMB traded about 40 million units of shares in 365 deals, valued at N410 million.
UBA traded approximately 37 million units in 1,067 deals, valued at N1.3 billion.
ACCESSCORP traded about 35 million units in 1,362 deals, valued at N789 million.
