A 16-year-old Nigerian, Manasseh Aluga, has earned international acclaim for his innovative approach to environmental sustainability.
Aluga, from Jos, Plateau State, has been awarded second place in the International Young Eco-Hero Award by Action For Nature (AFN), a renowned environmental organization based in the United States.
He was recognized for his pioneering Kundu Waste Management Project, transforming plastic waste into eco-friendly building bricks.
AFN’s spokesperson, Kelly Carnes, praised Aluga’s efforts, stating, “We are impressed by Manasseh’s determination to create a cleaner environment, despite facing financial constraints and personal challenges.
“His project was inspired by the devastating impact of plastic pollution in his community.”
Since its launch in March 2022, the Kundu project has significantly progressed.
Aluga’s initiative has successfully produced and distributed eco-bricks to local construction sites, demonstrating a practical solution to the problem of plastic waste.
