The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) Nigeria has issued a heartfelt call to action, urging the online community in the country to prioritise kindness, support, and empathy in their digital interactions.
The agency stated that every online interaction should contribute to a more positive and connected internet experience, emphasising the understanding that behind each screen lies a natural person with real emotions.
NITDA highlighted the importance of treating online spaces as platforms for goodness and constructive connections rather than breeding grounds for cruelty and negativity.
In an age where online interactions have become an integral part of daily life, the agency said making the internet a better place for all should be prioritised.
“Online spaces should be platforms for positivity, support, and connection. Remember, behind every screen is a real person with real feelings,” NITDA Nigeria stated in their message.
The agency further stated:
”This call to action resonates with the global discourse surrounding digital civility and the need for respectful and compassionate online conduct.
”As the internet continues to play a vital role in communication, education, and entertainment, the push for a more considerate and inclusive digital environment becomes increasingly crucial.
”By fostering a more inclusive, respectful, and compassionate digital landscape, NITDA Nigeria aims to enhance the overall online experience and promote a harmonious internet community.
”This message serves as a reminder that online actions have real-world consequences, and choosing kindness in the digital realm can lead to a more positive and connected online society, where individuals can interact and thrive in a supportive environment.
”This initiative aligns with broader global efforts to promote digital ethics and ensure that the internet remains a space where all individuals can communicate and collaborate respectfully and empathetically.”
