The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) has outlined an ambitious set of strategic objectives aimed at boosting Nigeria’s energy capacity, expanding critical infrastructure, and positioning the company as a global market leader by 2030.

According to the new roadmap, NNPC targets a significant rise in crude oil production, projecting 2 million barrels per day by 2027 and 3 million barrels per day by 2030. This aligns with the federal government’s broader goal of revitalising oil output and strengthening foreign exchange earnings.

The plan also highlights a major push in natural gas development, with production set to reach 10 billion cubic feet per day (bcf/d) by 2027 and 12 bcf/d by 2030. This expansion is expected to support domestic demand, industrialisation, and Nigeria’s growing role as a global gas supplier.

A key component of NNPC’s strategy is the completion of critical gas infrastructure projects. These include the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) pipeline, the Escravos–Lagos Pipeline System (ELPS), and the expansion of the Obiafu–Obrikom–Oben (OB3) pipeline—all considered essential to improving gas supply, boosting power generation, and enabling industrial growth.

In addition, NNPC aims to mobilise $60 billion in investments across the oil and gas value chain by 2030, reinforcing Nigeria’s competitiveness in a rapidly evolving global energy landscape. The investment strategy aligns with the company’s transition drive, ensuring that Nigeria remains relevant as the world explores cleaner and more sustainable energy options.

The strategic roadmap also emphasises a broader organisational vision—transforming NNPC into a “partner of choice,” strengthening its market position, and unlocking the full capabilities of its workforce.

NNPC says these objectives reflect its long-term commitment to energy security, national development, and value creation for stakeholders as it continues its journey as a fully commercialised national energy company.
