A faction of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has emphatically declared its disinterest in engaging in merger discussions with other political entities.
In a firm stance, NNPP clarified that they uphold their independence and refuse to merge with other parties to counter or confront others.
Furthermore, the party revealed that individuals involved in talks of a potential merger have been expelled from NNPP.
Alhaji AbdulRazaq AbdulSalam, the National Publicity Secretary of NNPP, announced in a statement.
Part of the statement read:
“The New Nigeria People’s Party NNPP is an independent political group; as such, we stand firm in our commitment to respect all political parties and refuse to engage in merging with any party to combat another. Our party values inclusivity and maintain a non-partisan approach.
“It’s crucial to note that those engaging in the merger talk have been expelled from NNPP, and the party currently faces internal conflicts pending court resolution. Until proven otherwise, these internal matters take precedence.
“The resolution of the Board of Trustees remains that the Abba Kawu-led NWC is dissolved, and Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso is expelled from the party.
“While we note the merger proposal, the stance of our party is clear: we are not interested in the merger offer at this point.”
