Nollywood actress Regina Daniels has cautioned her colleagues against employing young girls in the Nigerian movie industry.
The movie star said Nollywood is dangerous for young girls and accused her colleagues who employ underage girls of engaging in child labour.
In a video shared on Instagram, Regina Daniels said she was lucky to have a mother who protected her early in her career.
She said:
“Nollywood is a very dangerous place for young girls. I know, I was there. But I was opportune to have a very strong mother, a mother that was constantly on my neck, a mother that was feared by lots of people. So, they knew that was Mama Regina’s daughter so they gave me all the space.”
The movie star also recounted how she met a 14-year-old girl on set who worked as a makeup artist without being paid.
