There are indications that the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) presidential candidate Rabiu Kwankwanso will form an alliance with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) flagbearer Atiku Abubakar.
The Northern Leaders Elders Forum (NEF) are confident the former Kano state governor will form an alliance with Atiku ahead of the 2023 presidential election slated for Saturday, February 25, 2023.
During a meeting held on Sunday, January 29, 2023, NEF expressed optimism that Senator Kwankwanso will collapse its structure to pitch its tent under the umbrella of the PDP.

The Daily Independent gathered that the move was aimed at fending off the resistance Atiku is getting from the G-5 Governors and Nyesom Wike.
Both the NNPP and PDP are set to reach a mutual understanding so that Atiku could stand a chance of winning the 2023 general elections,
A chief of NEF who pleaded anonymity revealed that religious leaders, ex-generals, and monarchs are already making moves to convince Senator Kwankwaso to step down.
The NEF chieftain said: “If we can unite in the North by fielding a sole presidential candidate, then the election is as good as won because the Southern presidential candidates will divide the Southern votes. Atiku will also get votes in the South”.
