Nottingham Forest have submitted a £35 million offer to Crystal Palace for French striker Jean-Philippe Mateta, according to The Athletic’s David Ornstein.
Palace is understood to have set an asking price of no less than £40 million and will only consider a sale if they are able to secure a suitable replacement before the transfer window closes.
Mateta has emerged as a key target for Forest as the club looks to bolster its attacking options. The 27-year-old enjoyed a strong campaign with Palace, establishing himself as a central figure in their frontline.
Crystal Palace are not under immediate pressure to sell and is expected to maintain a firm stance in negotiations, particularly given the timing of the bid and Mateta’s importance to their squad.
Any potential deal is likely to hinge on Forest meeting Palace’s valuation and the London club’s ability to line up an alternative striker.
