The coach of English Premier League (EPL) side Nottingham Forest, Nuno Espirito Santo, has shared a positive update on the fitness level of striker Taiwo Awoniyi.
Despite making a recovery in January, Awoniyi has failed to reach full fitness, which has led to sporadic appearances. This season, he has experienced setbacks as a result of a groin operation intended to solve a recurring condition.
The 26-year-old, who has fought to stay on his feet this season and made his Tricky Trees debut last month against Brighton & Hove Albion, returned to full training this week.

While speaking about Awoniyi’s return to training, Santo said that the coaching crew still has to wait for a few days to see if the player is 100% fit before he begins to play again.
“He (Awoniyi) was out all week. He started today with the group, so let’s see if he has this positive feeling. I think he can help us,” Santo told reporters.
“He joined the team today; he had good feelings; we still have to wait for tomorrow to see how it goes. And if he feels okay like he felt today, I think he can definitely help with his experience; he’s a goalscorer.
“We are aware, and we know that he’s not at his top level, but he’s definitely a helpful player for us in these final moments.” He added.
