The vice presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) Datti Baba-Ahmed has stated that it is treasonable for Governor El-Rufai and some other governors refusal to obey the federal government’s new naira policy.
The Kaduna state governor as well as Umar Ganduje of Kano and Dapo Abiodun of Ogun state have warned they will punish banks who refuse to collect the old N500 and N1000 notes from their customers.
However, Peter Obi’s running mate Datti believes that governors kicking against President Muhammadu Buhari’s directives should be severely dealt with, Daily Independent.

The medical practitioner made the statement during a press conference in Abuja on Friday, February 17, 2023, added that the move by the governors is against the 1999 constitution which allows the president to direct for a change in the local currency.
Datti also called President Buhari’s national broadcast on Thursday morning, January 16, 2023, “a classical failure in leadership,” stressing that it was not needed as the case was still in court.
