Wolverhampton Wanderers have confirmed the appointment of Rob Edwards as the club’s new head coach, with the Englishman signing a contract valid until June 2029.
The 41-year-old makes his return to Molineux, where he previously worked as a youth coach and briefly served as interim manager in 2016. His appointment follows Wolves’ decision to part ways with their previous head coach after a disappointing run of results.
According to reports, Middlesbrough will receive £3 million in compensation following Edwards’ successful spell at the Riverside Stadium, where he earned widespread praise for his attacking style and ability to develop young talent.
Wolves’ chairman Jeff Shi said the club is confident that Edwards’ leadership and footballing philosophy align with their long-term vision.
“Rob understands the culture of Wolves and has shown tremendous growth as a manager. We’re delighted to welcome him back and look forward to building a strong future together,” Shi stated.
Edwards is expected to take charge immediately as Wolves prepare for their next Premier League fixture, with his first task being to stabilise results and guide the club back up the table.
