The Board of Directors of Okomu Oil Palm Company Plc has announced the appointment of Amina Maina as an Independent Non-Executive Director, effective October 16, 2025. According to the company, the appointment is subject to ratification at its next Annual General Meeting (AGM).
In a statement signed by the Company Secretary, Chukwuebuka Omerole, on Tuesday, the board described Mrs Maina as “a distinguished business executive with over two decades of leadership experience spanning the energy, trading, and investment sectors.”
Omerole noted that her appointment aligns with Okomu Oil’s commitment to strengthening its governance structure and promoting sustainable growth. “She is recognized for her strategic vision, operational excellence, and commitment to corporate governance and sustainable growth across Africa,” the statement added.
Maina brings a wealth of experience from various leadership roles. She currently serves as the Executive Chairperson of Eyrie Group and has previously held several senior positions at MRS Holdings Limited, including Group Chief Operating Officer, Group Executive Director, and Executive Director, Marketing. Her career also spans roles at Ovlas Trading SA, Energy Solutions Integrated Services Ltd, and Aurora Energy Trading Ltd.
Academically, Maina holds a B.Sc. in Business Administration from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and has completed executive education programs at globally renowned institutions such as Harvard Business School — where she undertook the Program for Leadership Development — and INSEAD Business School, where she earned a Certificate in Global Management, Competitive Strategy, and Leadership in Disruptive Times.
Beyond her corporate achievements, Maina holds numerous board and advisory positions. She is an Independent Member of the Governing Council of the Midstream and Downstream Gas Infrastructure Fund (North-East), a Member of the Presidential Economic Coordination Council (PECC), and Board Chairman of Next Gen Infraco Limited (NGIC).
Additionally, she serves as the Third Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG) and sits on the boards of MRS Benin and First Mutual Microfinance Bank.
Her professional affiliations include being a Fellow of the Institute of Management Consultants and the Energy Institute, as well as membership in the Institute of Directors, the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), and the Women in Energy Network (WIEN), of which she is a founding member.
Okomu Oil expressed confidence that Maina’s wealth of experience and leadership acumen will further enhance the company’s strategic direction and governance standards.
