Students of Ondo State origin have pledged their unwavering support for Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa in the forthcoming governorship election, promising to mobilize for the governor, who is the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The students conveyed their support through the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Students Affairs, Honourable Kelvin Olaolu Solomon.
Honourable Solomon assured Aiyedatiwa of the full backing of all students in the state, emphasizing that the governor has performed admirably to the satisfaction of the student body during his tenure.
“Governor Aiyedatiwa’s achievements in the critical sectors of the state’s economy are endearing, and we are convinced that they need to be sustained,” Solomon stated.
He highlighted the governor’s efforts in infrastructure, rural development, commerce, agriculture, education, and youth development.
Solomon pointed out that Aiyedatiwa has been actively engaging with student union leaders, addressing their concerns, and working on fulfilling their demands.
“He has directed us to continually engage the student community to enhance their welfare and academic support.
Besides, he has started the recruitment of 2,000 workers in the academic sector and has recruited people at the Ondo State Revenue Service.
“He merits support because of the stability within the political system and the peace and tranquillity that have enveloped the state since his emergence after the death of the former governor,” he stated.
Honourable Solomon concluded by affirming the students’ commitment to Aiyedatiwa’s re-election campaign: “He is indeed the best man for the job, and that’s why we are supporting him.”
Meanwhile, the Action Democratic Party (ADP) has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to adopt electronic voting and install Close Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras in all polling units across Nigeria ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The demand was articulated by the ADP’s National Chairman, Engr. Yabagi Sani, during the party’s non-elective national convention in Abuja recently.
He stated, “It is our great expectation that by 2027, voters should be able to make their choice with a press of the button when INEC would have introduced electronic voting and installed CCTV cameras in our polling units.”
