Senator Iyorchia Ayu, national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has stated that Abia state Governor Okezie Ikpeazu visited him after his preferred governorship aspirant lost in the guber primary election in the state.
Okey Ohiwe, a former chief of staff to Governor Ikpeazu emerged as the new party’s flagbearer after Ikpeazu’s successor Uche Ikonne died recently.
Ayu said the problem with Governor Ikpeazu has been resolved speaking during the PDP’s presidential campaign in Makurdi, Benue state capital on Monday, February 6, 2023, Daily Trust.

Speaking to a crowd of supporters during the PDP Presidential Campaign in Makurdi, Benue state capital, on Monday, February 6, Ayu said the problem with Governor Ikpeazu has been resolved, Daily Trust reported.
Ayu said: “We have resolved problem with Governor Ikpeazu and he is coming back. Two days ago, he was in my house because his candidate lost the primary,” the PDP national chairman said.
“I’m appealing to my younger brother, Governor Samuel Ortom, to come back to the party so we can rebuild the party. Ortom has nowhere to go.”
Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state, Governors Ikpeazu (Abia), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Ortom (Benue) and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu) are members of G-5 and are against the leadership of the PDP.
Ayu also added that Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State, another member of the G-5, has nowhere else to go.
“I’m appealing to my younger brother, Governor Samuel Ortom, to come back to the party so we can rebuild the party. Ortom has nowhere to go,” Ayu added.
