PDP Crisis: Wike was treated unjustly – Ortom

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state says the “injustice” meted out to Governor Nyesom Wike must be addressed to resolve the crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Ortom said the Rivers state governor stood by the PDP since the party lost power to the All Progressives Congress in 2015 and should be given attention.

“The idea of dismissing people in politics that they do not matter is dangerous because a single vote counts in politics,” Ortom said during an expanded PDP meeting in Makurdi on Monday.

“Injustice has been meted out to Gov. Nyesom Wike of Rivers and it must be addressed.” Justice must be served to him. “Wike stood and supported the party, and he should be given due attention,” he added.

Wike fell out with the PDP after failing to clinch the party’s presidential ticket.

The Rivers state governor has demanded the resignation of Iyorchia Ayu, the party’s national chairman.

But Ayu said he would only leave office after the expiration of his four-year tenure.
