Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun state has been appointed as the chairman of the electoral committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bayelsa.
The Osun state governor was picked over other political heavyweights in the party including Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers and Oyo’s Seyi Makinde of Oyo state.
In Imo state the PDP appointed Honourable Kenneth Okon as chairman of the version of the same committee.
Adeleke and Okon will conduct the party’s primary in order to nominate the candidate ahead of the 2023 governorship election in Bayelsa and Imo. The primaries will be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2023.
The G5 governors comprising Wike, Makinde, Samuel Ortom, Okezie Ikpeazu and Ifeanyi Ugwanyi did not support the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, during the presidential election over his failure to give room for the southern leadership in the party’s structure.
