Nigerian activist, Aisha Yesufu, has stated the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been a purposeless political platform for the past eight years.
Yesufu, who served in the 2023 presidential campaign council of the Labour Party, made the assertion in a tweet on Thursday, May 25, 2023.
The PDP lost federal elections in 2015, prompting the present ruling party – the All Progressives Congress (APC) to take over.
The Edo-born good governance advocate noted that arrogance had beclouded the reasoning of the party’s chieftains.
She wrote:
”PDP would have won the 2015 election either by fielding a different candidate or listening and responding to the cries of the people, but their arrogance had gotten hold of them.
”PDP would have won the 2023 election by fielding Peter Obi, but their greed is a tight vice around their neck.
”PDP failed and still failing to read the handwriting on the wall!”
Meanwhile, the PDP and the LP are challenging the results declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) after the presidential election was announced.
While collation was ongoing, the vice presidential candidates of both parties, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and Senator Datti Baba-Ahmed, addressed the press and urged INEC to stop the process.
Despite the parties closing ranks, Yesufu has constantly criticized the PDP and some of its followers.
