Google’s Fitbit is collaborating with Peloton Interactive to give its premium users access to the exercise equipment manufacturer’s fitness content.
According to a press statement from Peloton, Fitbit users without a Premium subscription will only be able to attend a subset of Peloton sessions, while Fitbit Premium members will have access to all of those classes starting in September.
Newsng gathered that Wednesday’s premarket trading saw a nearly 9% increase in Peloton shares.
Fitbit premium subscribers in the US, UK, Canada, and Australia will get access to Peloton’s classes in many disciplines, such as running, boxing, cycling, and pilates, as per the conditions of the partnership.
In return, Peloton members will receive special offers on Google Pixel watches and Fitbit Charge 6 devices.
Since the post-COVID era, Peloton has been having financial difficulties.
The most recent setback was the resignation of the CEO, who was expected to turn the firm around, in May.
“We’re thrilled to bring Peloton’s classes and world-class Instructors to Fitbit users, and continue to establish Peloton as a one-stop shop for all types of fitness content,” said Greg Hybl, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Peloton for Business.
“Together we share a commitment to make health and wellness more accessible and ensure even more people can reach their fitness goals.”
The fitness equipment manufacturer Peloton announced a wider-than-expected loss for the fiscal third quarter and predicted its first-ever decline in subscribers amid an uncertain economic environment.
Peloton’s partnership with Google coincides with the company’s declining sales as a result of the unpredictability of demand for its treadmills and stationary bikes, which led the company to refinance its debt.
