Domenec Torrent, one of Pep Guardiola’s longest-serving assistants, is eyeing the vacant Super Eagles coaching job following the unceremonious departure of Jose Peseiro.
Reports say Torrent, who has coached teams like Galatasaray, Flamengo, and New York City, has even turned down the chance to coach Cameroon in favour of managing Nigeria.
A top representative of Torrent told SCORENigeria that Cameroon offered him a favourable offer, but the coach believes that Nigeria is the best option for him at the moment.
“Cameroon made Torrent a good offer, but we believe Nigeria is best for him.
“He has worked at some of the biggest clubs around the world, and now is a good time for him to work with a national team.
“Africa has amazing potential, and we’re very confident he will do a fantastic job with the Super Eagles.” The representative said.
Torrent has worked closely with Guardiola at Barcelona and Bayern Munich, where they won significant championships such as the Bundesliga, La Liga, and the UEFA Champions League.
The 61-year-old coach, who speaks perfect English, has one of the best resumes among the coaches who have sought to coach the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
