Pat Utomi, a political economist, has expressed optimism that Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), would emerge winner in the 2023 elections.
According to Utomi, a former director of the Lagos Business School, the LP has better grassroots structures than the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He alleged that APC and PDP structures are tools for all forms of electoral fraud and malpractices.
“The LP has better structures than the Peoples Democratic Party and the All Progressives Congress. We have worked at developing real structures and they are going to be shocked at what they will see. Many of the Peter Obi Support Groups have structures on their own that can win these elections. At every poll during the election day, we will have 20 people who belong to these structures,” Utomi assured.
Speaking at the launch of The BIG-TENT, a coalition of political parties, social movements, and civil society organisations, Utomi revealed that two former heads of state are behind the Obi-dient movement.
He disclosed that both former leaders, who are not members of the LP, are providing the movement with the needed support to ensure Obi’s victory in 2023.
“Two former heads of state have said to me they are Obidients. A lot of people want to join the (Obidient) movement, without joining the Labour Party to ensure that Obi and Baba-Ahmed win to capture our country back from those who have held us down,” Utomi said.
He cautioned that the 2023 general election will not be business as usual for those who participate in electoral fraud.
