Pi Network has rolled out Version 23 of its blockchain, introducing new Know-Your-Customer (KYC) tools designed to make identity verification more efficient and decentralised.
The update, which is built on Stellar v23 but customised for Pi’s ecosystem, aims to fix longstanding verification bottlenecks. For years, many Pi users struggled to pass KYC, slowing adoption and sparking frustration across the community.
According to the Core Team, the upgrade “will maintain Pi as a KYC-verified blockchain, while offering a more distributed community-driven KYC process at the protocol level.” The change allows identity checks to be managed not only through Pi’s native KYC app but also by approved third-party services. This shift gives users more options and strengthens Pi’s readiness for integration with outside platforms that require verified identities.
“KYC is critical for the integrity of the network, compliance, and future integrations,” the team noted. So far, roughly 15 million users have completed KYC—a milestone Pi sees as pivotal for its transition toward open Mainnet.
The rollout will occur in stages, starting with Testnet1 and Testnet2 before reaching the Mainnet. The Core Team cautioned that there may be brief interruptions during implementation but promised to notify users ahead of time.
Despite the technical milestone, Pi’s token has struggled to gain traction. At press time, Pi traded at $0.34, hovering just above its all-time low of $0.33 recorded on August 26.
