Pinterest has introduced a new function dubbed ‘board sharing’, which lets users “share videos of their favourite Pinterest boards across various social platforms, including Instagram and TikTok.”
Rachel Hardy, director of consumer product marketing at Pinterest, confirmed the development in a news release.
To meet Gen Z’s demand for video-focused features, the firm announced that it will now allow users to create short videos of their curated Pinterest boards, which can be shared on social media.
“Gen Z makes up over 40% of our global monthly users on Pinterest and are our most engaged generation, with a significant increase in the number of boards created by Gen Z Pinners compared to last year,” explained Hardy.
The procedure is simple: To share a public board, select it, press the ‘share’ icon in the upper right corner, and choose a template for the board’s appearance.
After that, you can publish that board overview as a narrative with an animated representation of the components you selected.
One of the features that functions as a watermark is the ‘Curated on Pinterest’ marker.
This marker is more focused on storytelling and resharing your Pins through Reels than it is on Reels, which downrank movies with watermarks and might affect your distribution in that format.
The Pinterest marker vanishes, leaving it less noticeable.
“With board sharing, Pinterest is making it easier for Pinners to share what they are saving and curating, with the option to add a link back to their boards, inviting others to explore and engage with the curated content in-depth,” the company wrote.
Newsng gathered that the trend of sharing videos on apps like TikTok served as inspiration for the latest feature.
For instance, Shuffles, a brand-new collage-making tool from Pinterest, gained a lot of traction among Gen Z artists on TikTok in 2022.
The software, which was exclusively available by invitation at the time, gained popularity when users of Pinterest shared their so-called “aesthetic” mood boards and collages on TikTok, accompanied by music.
We earlier reported that there are rumours that Google and Pinterest are testing Google ad units on the Pinterest app.
