The Bayelsa State Police Command has paraded one John Lyon Ewa and members of his gang in Yenagoa, the state capital, on Monday.

According to the police, Lyon and his gang have been responsible for some of the biggest abductions in the state.

Responding to questions from journalists, Lyon, who was arrested in Abuja during the weekend, denied being part of the gang’s kidnap operations.

The self-acclaimed motivational speaker said his only role was identifying the houses of victims.

“I’m not part of it [operations]. I was misled to show them where this person is. I wasn’t involved in it. I’m not in the business [kidnap],” Lyon declared.

He, however, admitted to receiving the sum of N3.5 million after an operation at the house of his former boss.

“I didn’t play any role in Hakeem’s kidnap; I just showed them his house. We were driving and I pointed to the house. It was my former boss’s house, that was it,” he added.

But another member of the gang, Emma, disagreed with Lyon’s claims.

According to him, Lyon was the mastermind of the kidnap of Danjuma Emeije and one Hakeem.

Emma disclosed that Lyon had approached him and other members of the group to plan the kidnap of his boss after he [Lyon] was sacked.
