West Ham United has confirmed the dismissal of Graham Potter after a disastrous start to the Premier League season, which left the club languishing near the bottom of the table.
Potter, who was appointed earlier this year with hopes of bringing stability and an attacking philosophy to the London Stadium, failed to deliver results as the Hammers endured a run of poor performances. The club released a brief statement on Saturday morning confirming his departure.
The Englishman’s departure was confirmed by West Ham in a statement. Still, no interim manager was named to coach the Hammers in their upcoming Premier League match against Everton on Monday night.
“West Ham United can confirm that Head Coach Graham Potter has left the Club.
“Results and performances over the course of the second half of last season and the start of the 2025/26 season have not matched expectations, and the Board of Directors believes that a change is necessary to help improve the team’s position in the Premier League as soon as possible.
“The Club can confirm that Assistant Coach Bruno Saltor, First Team Coaches Billy Reid and Narcis Pelach, Lead Goalkeeper Coach Casper Ankergren, and Goalkeeper Coach Linus Kandolin have also left with immediate effect.
“The Board would like to thank Graham and his coaching staff for their hard work during their time with the Hammers and wish them every success for the future.
“The process of appointing a replacement is underway. The Club will be making no further comment at this time.” The statement issued by the club read in full.
Potter’s tenure at West Ham never truly gained momentum. Despite an encouraging pre-season, the team struggled for consistency, with lackluster results piling pressure on the former Chelsea boss. Supporters voiced growing frustration as the Hammers slipped into the relegation zone after a series of defeats.
For Potter, it marks another turbulent spell in management following his high-profile but short-lived stint at Chelsea. For West Ham, the decision signals an urgent reset as the club looks to steady the ship both domestically and in European competition.
