German Bundesliga club RB Leipzig has officially opened talks with Brentford over the signing of Nigerian right-back Benjamin Fredrick, tabling a €1.5 million offer for the highly rated 20-year-old.
Sources close to the negotiations revealed that Leipzig’s sporting director personally contacted Brentford officials to discuss a permanent deal for the youngster, who is currently impressing on loan at Belgian side FCV Dender EH.
The proposal reportedly includes a 15% sell-on clause, ensuring Brentford would benefit financially from any future transfer involving the Nigerian defender—a sign of Leipzig’s confidence in Fredrick’s long-term potential.
Fredrick, known for his pace, composure, and defensive awareness, has drawn praise in Belgium for his mature performances despite his age. Leipzig scouts have tracked him closely over recent months, viewing him as a perfect fit for the club’s philosophy of developing young, dynamic talent.
