The Nigerian social media space erupted after a video captured the moment President Muhammadu Buhari stared at musician Teni shortly after she received her national award.
The singer was among the 450 recipients who were bestowed with national honours by the president on Tuesday, October 11.
However, the event sparked a discussion on social media after the president gazed at the singer as she walked back to her seat after being conferred with Member of the Order Of The Niger (OON).
As things played out, when she was called to receive her award, Teni, who was dressed in black trousers with a black jacket and white sneakers, walked to the podium, collected the award plate and walked away.
But things got funny when the president who had just handed her the plate kept looking as she strolled away.
While some Nigerians praised the singer for how she confidently collected her award. Others suggested that the president felt disrespected by her mannerism.
Teni, who has been celebrating the award, is yet to make any statement about what transpired during the event.
