Renowned Swiss watchmaker Franck Muller has unveiled a unique line of high-end timepieces that merge traditional horology with modern blockchain technology.

The limited edition collection includes 1,111 watches, each integrated with the Solana blockchain through a scannable QR code.

The 41mm watches, retailing at 20,000 Swiss francs (about $24,300), are designed to connect with the owner’s Solana wallet.

At the noon mark, the QR code becomes active, serving as a gateway to the owner’s digital identity. Franck Muller has coined the term “phygital” to describe the fusion of physical and digital elements in the collection.

In a statement on X, the brand emphasised the collection as a “statement of individuality, ownership, and technological excellence,” blending Swiss luxury with Web3 innovation.

While the launch is expected to appeal to Solana enthusiasts and crypto-forward consumers, concerns have emerged over security risks. Some critics have warned that wearing such watches could expose owners to physical threats, especially amid rising reports of crypto-related extortion attempts.

Currently priced at roughly 115 SOL per unit, the watches represent both a fashion statement and a nod to blockchain culture. Whether they will be embraced as luxury innovations or raise eyebrows over privacy risks remains to be seen.
