Talented Spanish midfielder Rodrigo Hernández Cascante has reacted after he was announced as the 2024 Ballon d’Or thus beating Brazilian winger Vinicius Jr to second place.
The Spanish international thought back on the rocky journey that brought him to football’s greatest individual honor after accepting his honor during the occasion.
The influential Manchester City player shared a significant event from his early career during his acceptance speech on Monday at the ceremony in Paris, France.
“One day told my father: stop, I leave football, my dream is over. But he told me… no, keep going, let’s try until the end”.
“Today I’m here and I’m proud, I have to say thanks”. Rodri said after receiving his award.
Rodri who is known for his passing, playmaking, and physical attributes also disclosed that he encourages the younger generation to imbibe values that will take them far in life.
“I try to say to the kids, you don’t need to be crazy… you can be a normal guy.
“Try to do your best. And I would like thank God, because with these values, with this perseverance, at the end it gives you back”. The player born in June, 1996 said.
