Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella has made a stunning claim that Liverpool star Mohamed Salah was “deliberately targeted” during their heated Premier League clash at Stamford Bridge, which ended in a 2–1 victory for the Blues.

The Spaniard made the statement after a fiery encounter that saw tempers flare on both sides. Goals from M. Caicedo and Estevao Willian secured the win for Chelsea, while Coady Gakpo netted Liverpool’s only goal.

Cucurella stated in his post-match remarks on the team’s website that Chelsea was aware that Salah is “always ready” to play for Liverpool on the counterattack and that his early difficulties in the game were “not by accident.”

“We know that Salah is always ready for the counterattack attack so we practiced that, and the manager said that the space might be there.

“We saw that it was the last minute, but we kept attacking. I tried to give my last effort, and Enzo gave me the ball, and I crossed for Estevao.

“I think we deserve it. We started the game very well, and then in the second half, we started not in the right way again—we need to improve these things.

“But in general, I think we deserve this win. We came through some tough weeks. This moment was amazing, and we go into the break with three points, so we are very happy.”
